HYDROLYZED COLLAGEN (FROM GRASS-FED BOVINE HIDES)
Collagen is the most abundant protein found in the body and is an integral part of our connective tissue, including the gut. Collagen types 1 and 3, found in grass-fed bovine collagen, play a significant structural role, where they contribute to the elasticity, strength and integrity of tissues. Hydrolyzed collagen is a valuable source of both essential (which must be obtained through diet) and non-essential amino acids, which are the building blocks for the formation of new collagen in the body. These amino acids benefit our gut, joint and skin health. In terms of gut health, research has shown that the specific amino acids found in hydrolyzed collagen are essential to optimizing the immune functions of the intestine, and help to maintain the integrity, growth and function of the intestine. In addition, studies have shown hydrolyzed collagen to provide benefits in maintaining joint health and reducing the risk of joint deterioration, as well as improving the pain associated with degenerative joint changes.
Erythritol is a sugar substitute that looks and tastes like sugar, but has almost no calories. Erythritol is described as having a zero glycemic index, and it has not been found to affect blood sugar or insulin levels. Organic erythritol is made by breaking down the starch from organic (non-GMO) corn to make glucose. Glucose is then fermented with yeast or another fungus to produce organic erythritol. Erythritol is almost fully absorbed in the small intestine, so does not typically cause the laxative effects that some individuals experience with other sugar alcohols, like xylitol and maltitol. Organic Erythritol is a component of our sugar-free sweetener blend, alongside organic stevia and monk fruit, and makes a tasty alternative to sweeteners that can spike blood sugar.
